According to the report on the website of the Australian Asia-Pacific Defense Report magazine on January 8, Airbus Defense and Space Company has signed a contract with Poland to provide a geospatial intelligence system, including the development, manufacture, launch and in-orbit delivery of two high-performance optical Earth observation satellites. The contract also covers relevant ground parts, including Polish ground receiving station, launch service, training of Polish team and maintenance and technical support of space and ground systems. In addition, the contract also includes the delivery of high-definition images taken by Airbus "Next Generation Pleiades" from 2023. It was reported that with the support of the French government, the contract successfully realized the export of Airbus S950 high-definition optical satellite for the first time. This satellite originated from the development of the "next generation Pleiades", which has two satellites in orbit since 2021. The latest generation of systems provides cutting-edge performance of high-definition optical capabilities, and also has a high degree of on-orbit flexibility. Jean-Marc Nasser, head of the Airbus space system, said: "This contract will provide Poland with one of the most complex satellite Earth observation systems in the world. It can strengthen Europe and give Poland a truly autonomous space capability. We look forward to further developing our cooperation with Poland under the overall strategic partnership between France and Poland." After the satellite was launched from the Kuru Space Center in French Guiana, Images from Polish satellites will be directly received by the Polish national satellite system infrastructure to ensure full autonomy.
