Active deployment/government: race against the clock to prepare for customs clearance

(Picture: The customs clearance between the two places, which the citizens have been waiting for for a long time, is expected to be realized soon.) The customs clearance is coming, and all government departments and relevant industries are actively preparing. The government said that it was making every effort to promote customs clearance between Hong Kong and the mainland, racing against the clock to prepare for customs clearance, and taking into account epidemic risk management in both places, including the latest relevant announcement by the National Health Commission. Members of the Legislative Council expect the government to provide the industry with a clear timetable so that all sectors have enough time to prepare. In response to the Ta Kung Pao inquiry yesterday, the government spokesman for the epidemic risk management in both regions said that the SAR government was making every effort to promote the gradual, orderly and comprehensive customs clearance of Hong Kong and the mainland. The "Customs Clearance Coordination Group" is racing against the clock to advance the preparations for customs clearance in parallel on both tracks. On the one hand, it should formulate a sound customs clearance plan as soon as possible, taking into account the changes of epidemic situation and risk management in both places, including the latest relevant announcement by the National Health Commission. On the other hand, it should keep in touch with the relevant units of the Central Government, Guangdong Province and Shenzhen City. After reaching a consensus on the customs clearance plan, it will immediately submit it to the Central Government for approval, with a view to implementing it before the middle of next January. Transportation is a core part of the customs clearance work. Cathay Pacific Airlines replied to the Ta Kung Pao that it welcomed the mainland authorities to stop taking quarantine and infectious disease management measures for entry personnel and goods from January 8, and Cathay Pacific tried its best to improve the capacity of passenger flights to and from the mainland. Railway: Ready to deploy personnel The MTR Corporation said it was ready to fully cooperate with the government to resume customs clearance arrangements. During the suspension of transit train service, it has been carrying out various maintenance and repair, as well as personnel training. Lin Weiqiang, chairman of the Hong Kong Railway Trade Union Federation, told reporters in Ta Kung Pao that transit trains have always been repaired and tested. The trade union pays attention to the issue of personnel transfer. In the past two years, the employees of MTR in each port station have been dispersed to other departments. They are worried that these people will be transferred back to their original posts, which will affect the urban line traffic. The entry-exit ports are also involved in bus connections. In reply to the Ta Kung Pao inquiry, KMB is making preparations for the gradual and orderly resumption of comprehensive customs clearance, including close communication with the Transport Department, strengthening the route service to and from each port according to the actual needs of passengers, and the Dragon Transport Bus will also provide adequate services for the needs of passengers to and from the airport and the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge. Yao Bailiang, a member of the Tourism Legislative Council, said that the government should provide the industry with a clear customs clearance schedule as soon as possible, so that hotels, airlines, travel agencies, tourist buses, cross-border passenger transport and other enterprises have enough time to prepare. In order to resume business, the industry is still faced with recruitment, maintenance equipment, capital turnover and other problems. (Liu Xinshe)
