At 8:05 on December 26, the C57 "Green Giant" Fuxing EMU train started slowly from Chengdu South Railway Station and headed for Xichang, marking the opening and operation of the last section of the new Chengdu Kunming Railway (Chengdu Kunming Railway Capacity Expansion and Reconstruction Project) - Emei Mianning Section. So far, the 915km long new Chengdu Kunming Railway has been opened to traffic. The new Chengdu Kunming Railway starts from Chengdu South Railway Station, passes through Chengdu, Meishan, Leshan, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Panzhihua, Yunnan Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Kunming, and ends at Kunming Station. It is a national Class I double track electrified railway with a design speed of 160km/h.
