The flying car has arrived, and we still need to fly over the critical hurdle to enter the reality

2022-12-16

Recently, the world's first manned two seat intelligent split flying car engineering prototype was released in Chongqing, which was developed by Xiang Changle, an academician of the CAE Member, and jointly released by Beijing University of Technology, Chongqing Innovation Center of Beijing University of Technology, and Kuhei Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. with Chongqing. This flying car adopts the split configuration of three independent modules, namely, autonomous vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, intelligent control cockpit and autopilot chassis. It is a three-dimensional transportation system for carrying people and objects. The flight car test sample X3 of Xiaopeng Automobile successfully flew, and the flight car of Geely was officially accepted by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (hereinafter referred to as the Civil Aviation Administration of China)... The flight car has become a hot spot. The flying car has come, but how far does it really enter our life? To help solve congestion and environmental pollution, "flying cars are the cross-border integration of aircraft and cars, which is a popular name." Xiang Changle introduced that only when it is aimed at individual consumers can it have the meaning of a car in a popular concept. In the industry, it is more accurately known as the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Xiang Changle prefers to call the split flying car designed by Xiang Changle's team "three-dimensional transportation system". Many people will wonder the difference between flying cars and helicopters. Compared with helicopters, flying cars can rely on wings to generate lift when flying horizontally, just like ordinary airplanes, while helicopters rely on rotors throughout the flight; The demand for takeoff and landing sites of flying cars is smaller than that of helicopters. The flying car is a new type of transportation tool for urban three-dimensional transportation and future travel, and an effective way to solve the traffic congestion and environmental pollution problems faced by urban development. The United States, the European Union, Japan and other developed countries or regions attach great importance to and actively plan to support the research and development of flying cars or urban aircraft. In March this year, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Science and Technology jointly issued the Outline of Medium and Long term Development Plan for Scientific and Technological Innovation in Transportation (2021-2035), formally incorporating the research and development of flying cars into the plan. According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, China plans to establish a manned unmanned air transport system by 2035. "The flying car is a vehicle for three-dimensional urban travel in the future." Xiang Changle introduced the daily point-to-point commuting, emergency rescue materials delivery, personnel rescue, high-rise fire fighting and other emergency scenarios in mega cities; Scenes of mountain, river, cross sea and other road traffic inconvenience; Unmanned logistics scheduling of smart islands, smart ports, smart parks, etc; Sightseeing and flight experience are the application scenarios of future flying cars. Xiang Changle said that there are two obvious characteristics of flying cars at the technical level: one is electrification, and the other is intelligence. In the future, the unmanned intelligent flying car needs not only the ability of intelligent perception, recognition and planning, but also the ability of network scheduling. The split reconfigurable scheme is suitable for this development trend. The split scheme can not only achieve air and ground scheduling, but also achieve optimal road and air segmentation planning based on traffic big data resources. The future application scenario released by the Chongqing Innovation Center of Beijing University of Technology includes the shared three-dimensional travel of big data scheduling, and users can use related services as if they were using online car hailing service
