Adjust and standardize relevant policies for military families to follow the army and settle down

2022-11-28

The State Council and the Central Military Commission recently approved and forwarded the Opinions on Adjusting and Standardizing the Policies for Military Family Members to Follow the Army and Settle in the Army issued by the Ministry of Public Security, the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission and the Logistics Support Department of the Central Military Commission. The Opinions clearly stated that officers in active service (including police officers) and sergeants above the third sergeant level (including police officers), as well as staff sergeants of the first grade serving in the hard and remote areas designated by the state and the army, islands of the third category or above, and the troops of the Tibet Autonomous Region, their spouses, minor children, and children without the ability to live independently can join the army with the approval of the political work department of the brigade (regiment) level or higher units; The relevant policies for the families of the soldiers stationed in Beijing to accompany the army shall be formulated separately by the army with reference to the spirit of the Central Committee's documents on the approval and management of new settlements in Beijing. The current relevant policies shall be implemented temporarily before the new policies are issued. If the spouse of a serviceman meets the conditions for independent settlement in the unit where the serviceman belongs, and has been approved by the relevant department of the local people's government and has gone through the settlement procedures, the serviceman shall report and file with the political work department of the unit at or above the brigade (regiment) level within 30 days of settlement. The Opinions require that local people's governments at all levels and all relevant departments should seriously implement the relevant policies on accompanying and settling in military families, and give priority to providing services and guarantees to military families who meet the conditions for accompanying and settling in independently. The armed forces at all levels should strengthen policy and situation education, guide the majority of officers and soldiers to concentrate on training and preparing for war, and make contributions to the Party's goal of building a strong military in the new era. This adjustment and regulation of the relevant policies for the accompanying and settling down of military families is a practical measure to implement the reform and deployment of military policies and systems, and is of great significance to enhance the cohesion and combat effectiveness of the army.
