The research team of the Imaging and Intelligent Technology Laboratory of Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as the team) has long been committed to building a new generation of basic engine in the field of information technology. Computing power is one of the cornerstones of the development of artificial intelligence. However, the development speed of computing power based on electronic computing is limited by Moore's Law, which has been unable to meet the computing power needs of the future development of intelligent society. The artificial intelligence optoelectronic chip developed by the team has completed artificial intelligence tasks at the speed of light for the first time in the world, breaking through the bottlenecks of traditional electronic computing such as long time delay and high power consumption. The computing power of the sample chip has been increased by 10 times compared with the top electronic chip, and the energy consumption has been reduced by 10 times. In the future, the chip's computing power is expected to increase by 3 orders of magnitude, and its energy consumption will decrease by 6 orders of magnitude, driving the AI basic technology to achieve a disruptive breakthrough, giving full play to the "head goose" effect of AI, enabling Wanye, boosting Chinese path to modernization, and serving major national needs. Innovation is the first driving force. To adhere to the core position of innovation in China's overall modernization drive, we need to implement the innovation driven development strategy and improve the scientific and technological innovation system. In more than 20 years of development, the team has always adhered to the scientific research concept of "integrating scientific thinking with engineering practice, and practicing original innovation in cross fields". Not long ago, the relevant achievements of the meta imaging super image sensor developed by the team were published in Nature, which overcame the two core technologies of ultra fine light field perception and ultra fine light field fusion, opening a new path to solve the 100 year problem of optical aberration. The meta imaging super image sensor will also be used in astronomical observation, biological imaging, medical diagnosis, mobile terminals, industrial detection, security monitoring and other fields.
