The opening ceremony of the Kwangju International Forum on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK was held in Kwangju, South Korea, on the 18th. Focusing on the theme of "the future of China South Korea relations and the role of local governments", experts and scholars from China and South Korea conducted in-depth discussions and frank exchanges to jointly look forward to the development prospects of China South Korea relations. Jiang Qizheng, Mayor of Guangzhou, Zhang Chenggang, Consul General of China in Guangzhou, Ding Shixuan, former Director of the Ministry of Unification of the Republic of Korea, Cao Gengwan, Director of the Guangzhou China Friendship Center, and Yu Shougen, President of the Korea China Global Association attended the opening ceremony. Jiang Qi said in her speech that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the ROK and China 30 years ago, both countries have made remarkable development achievements. In the future, the two countries will still be good partners to start the journey of prosperity together. The two countries should further deepen cooperation and enhance exchanges. I believe that local governments will also play a more important role in bilateral economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges. Zhang Chenggang said that over the past 30 years, China ROK relations have withstood various tests of changes and achieved coordinated development. China and the ROK should grasp the general trend, eliminate interference, consolidate friendship, focus on cooperation, and jointly create a better future of bilateral relations to better benefit the two countries and their people.
