On June 6, the commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Lassaro, visited the minefields of the 21st batch of Chinese peacekeeping missions to Lebanon, and commended the contribution of the Chinese demining team to maintaining peace and stability in South Lebanon. At 10 a.m. local time on the 6th, Lazarus and his delegation took a special bus to the minefield near the "Blue Line" on the border between Lebanon and Israel to listen to the basic information of the Chinese troops to Lebanon and the report on their demining work. Later, Lazaro wore protective equipment and entered the minefield to talk with minesweepers and take a group photo. Lhasaro said that the Chinese demining team is a highly professional, disciplined and committed team, which has always maintained a record of "zero accidents" and "zero casualties", providing important support for maintaining peace and stability in South Lebanon. He said that China plays an important role in maintaining world peace and thanked China for its contribution to the United Nations cause of peace in Lebanon. The officers and soldiers of the Chinese demining unit said that they would continue to play an active role in clearing the mines in Lebanon and maintaining local peace and stability. Lassaro officially took over the command of UNIFIL on February 28 this year, and his visit on February 6 was the first time he visited the minefield of the Chinese peacekeeping force since taking office. Since China sent peacekeeping troops to Lebanon in 2006, it has so far sent more than 7000 peacekeepers, removed more than 15000 mines and unexploded ordnance, and provided more than 87000 medical assistance to the local people. It has made important contributions to maintaining peace and stability in southern Lebanon and has won full recognition and widespread praise from the international community and Lebanon.
