In June 2022, the 37th meeting of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council reviewed and approved the Catalogue of Postgraduate Education Disciplines and Specialties (2022) and the List of Urgent Disciplines and Specialties for Guiding Development (2022) (hereinafter referred to as the "New Catalogue" and the "Urgent List" respectively), as well as the corresponding management measures, marking the end of a new round of revision of the catalogue of disciplines and specialties that has lasted more than a year. The new version of the catalog and the urgent list are the important basis for postgraduate enrollment and training, degree awarding and employment guidance in colleges and universities, as well as an important guide for colleges and universities to build a discipline and specialty system and adjust the internal academic governance structure. One of the highlights of this round of revision of the discipline catalog is the improvement of interdisciplinary categories and the addition of relevant first level disciplines. With the accelerating integration of science and technology and industrial revolution, the knowledge and methods of a single discipline are not enough to solve major scientific problems. "Interdisciplinary" is the embodiment of the blending of academic ideas, systematic dialectical thinking and the change of research paradigm. It has become an important feature of the times of scientific development. Interdisciplinary and multi technology integration has become the norm. Interdisciplinary research has increasingly become an indispensable research paradigm to solve major problems in human development. The intersection of disciplines is often the growth point of new disciplines, which may lead to major scientific breakthroughs, thus helping to solve the major complex scientific problems, social problems and global problems facing mankind, and constantly giving birth to new frontiers of disciplines, new scientific and technological fields and new industrial forms. The official promulgation of the new version of the catalog, the urgent need list and its management measures has brought new opportunities and challenges to the discipline construction, talent training and the construction of the internal academic governance system of colleges and universities. Colleges and universities should continue to deepen the comprehensive reform of education and solidly promote the connotation construction and high-quality development of colleges and universities. First, adjust the discipline structure and improve the discipline construction plan. Discipline is a systematic knowledge system. In essence, discipline construction is a process of knowledge inheritance, protection and creation, as well as a process of knowledge system construction, maintenance and renewal. High level discipline construction, scientific research and technology research and development are important manifestations of the core competitiveness of the school, and are important carriers of the school's strength and academic reputation. It is necessary to clarify the logical relationship between "interdisciplinary" and "interdisciplinary" in combination with the development strategy of the school and the positioning of talent training objectives. Further refine the discipline and scientific research direction, optimize the discipline structure, gather discipline teams, build discipline platforms and bases, innovate the discipline construction and scientific research achievements transformation mechanism, and solidify the ideas and measures of discipline construction into the discipline construction plan, so as to continuously improve the knowledge contribution and social service ability. Second, strengthen the integration of disciplines and specialties.
