brilliant purples and reds! Wulan quinoa in Qaidam Basin welcomes bumper harvest

2022-09-09

In mid autumn, Wulan County, Qinghai Province, located in the hinterland of China's "cornucopia" Qaidam Basin, ushered in the quinoa mature harvest season, with beautiful colors. Quinoa is native to the Andes mountains of South America. It is a plateau crop that likes cold climate, is afraid of rainy weather, is drought tolerant and salt tolerant. The Chaida basin in Qinghai is about 3000 meters above sea level, with long sunshine time, large temperature difference between day and night, suitable temperature, less precipitation, pure water quality and no pollution. The geographical conditions are very similar to the origin. In 2013, Qinghai successfully introduced Li Mai in Qaidam Basin, and has become the best area for quinoa industry development in China. Looking around, the mature ears of quinoa show colorful colors such as fiery red, golden yellow and purple red. The wheat field is like a natural oil painting, which is very beautiful.
