Recently, the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas announced the first batch of 72 National Crop Germplasm Resource Banks (nurseries) and the list of 19 national agricultural microbial germplasm resource banks, aiming to build a "national team" for the protection and utilization of germplasm resources and accelerate the improvement of China's agricultural germplasm resource protection system. The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas said that the national agricultural germplasm resource bank (nursery) is an important facility for the safe preservation and shared utilization of germplasm resources in China. It has strategic, basic and public welfare characteristics and undertakes important tasks such as collection and collation of germplasm resources, safe preservation, accurate identification, sharing and exchange. It is understood that the national crop and agricultural microbial germplasm resources bank announced this time is distributed in 29 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country, reflecting the geographical distribution and habitat characteristics of different species. Among them, the first batch of National Crop Germplasm Resource Banks (nurseries) include one long-term bank, one duplicate bank, 15 medium-term banks, and 55 germplasm nurseries. China's crop germplasm resource protection system with long-term banks as the core and multiple banks, medium-term banks, and Germplasm nurseries as the support has been basically established; The first batch of national agricultural microbial germplasm resources protection banks include one long-term bank and 18 professional germplasm resources banks, involving edible fungi, fertilizer microorganisms, plant protection microorganisms, feed microorganisms and other categories. China's agricultural microbial germplasm resources protection system has been initially established. "In the next step, the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas will organize and sign a tripartite agreement with local agricultural and rural departments on the national level germplasm resource bank to implement the responsibilities of the provincial competent department, the territorial Government and the protection subject."
