The first issue of international Confucianism (English version) and academic seminar held in Beijing

Recently, the first release and academic seminar of international Confucianism (English version) jointly sponsored by the international Confucianism Federation and Beijing Foreign Studies University and organized by the foreign language teaching and research press was held in Beijing. More than 1000 scholars from the cultural and educational circles at home and abroad gathered in the "cloud" to participate in the activity. International Confucianism is an important publication of the International Federation of Confucianism. In May 2021, the International Federation of Confucianism and Tsinghua University launched a Chinese version. The publication of this English version has built an interactive platform for thought innovation, exchange and discussion for experts and scholars in the study of Confucianism and Chinese traditional culture in various countries. Jia Deyong, Secretary General of the International Federation of Confucianism, said that the international Confucianism (English version) will better promote the intensive dissemination of Chinese civilization, better carry out dialogue and interaction with the splendid civilization that has lasted for thousands of years, promote mutual understanding, interaction, mutual respect and mutual learning among the people of all countries, and raise the level of cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and foreign countries. Yang Dan, chief editor of international Confucianism (English version), deputy secretary of the Party committee and President of Beijing International Studies University, stressed that as a high-level academic journal facing the world, international Confucianism (English version) is conducive to condensing contemporary values in line with the development of the times from the wisdom of Confucianism on the basis of adhering to the common values of all mankind, and helping to build China's international academic discourse, Let the Chinese civilization, together with the colorful civilizations of other countries, contribute new wisdom, new ideas and new solutions to promoting world peace and development and building a community with a shared future for mankind. Xu Qingsen, director of the social science department of the Ministry of education, entrusted Chen Rui, director of the teaching and Publishing Department of the social science department, to attend the meeting and read a speech. In his speech, he pointed out that the establishment of international Confucianism (English version) is conducive to displaying the traditional wisdom of China, excavating the contemporary value of Confucianism, and is conducive to the inheritance of Chinese traditional culture and the exchange and mutual learning of civilizations of various countries. It is believed that international Confucianism (English version) will become an important position to spread Chinese ideology and culture, and help Confucianism to the world and share the achievements of civilization with mankind. Subsequently, Wang Xuedian, Li Yan, vice president of the International Federation of Confucianism, and other leaders delivered speeches respectively. They hoped that the International Federation of Confucianism would cooperate with Beiwai, work hand in hand with experts in the academic and publishing circles, and strive to make the international Confucianism (English version) a feature, a result and a brand, so as to contribute to the international communication of Chinese culture and the exchange and mutual learning of different civilizations. In the forum segment of the seminar, Mr. Anle Zhe, vice president of the International Federation of Confucianism, Mr. Zhang Siying, deputy editor in chief of FLTRP, Mr. Peng Ping, Professor of Beijing Foreign Studies University Zhong Weimin, a professor of Tsinghua University, and other experts and scholars conducted in-depth academic discussions and exchanges on such topics as "Confucianism and the contemporary world", "topic selection, editing and publication of international Confucianism (English version)", "the significance of Confucianism's external dissemination and translation thinking" and "traditional culture research should face the world and the future". It is reported that the international Confucianism (English version) is published by the foreign language teaching and Research Press, and the Secretary of the Party committee and the chairman of the foreign language research group (FLTRP), Wang Fang, President of FLTRP, said that "FLTRP cherishes and attaches great importance to the publication of periodicals, and equips a professional team to be responsible for the editing, proofreading and publication of periodicals. FLTRP will make concerted efforts with Beiwai and the International Federation of Confucianism to make international Confucianism (English version) into an international first-class academic journal."
