There are 137 ancient and famous trees on the island, 56 national cultural relics buildings, and foreign exchange venues such as the White Swan Hotel, the Shamian club, the Protocol Office of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and the Guangdong Foreign Affairs club, as well as bars and restaurants with different national customs such as Starbucks cafe, rose Garden western restaurant, languifang restaurant, overseas Chinese gourmet and taoranxuan restaurant. The air on the island is fresh, the scenery is pleasant, and there are many pocket parks. There are also many foreign buildings, enterprises, churches and other elements, which attract a large number of foreigners, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and people from inside and outside the province to visit and consume. No. 68, Shamian street, the former site of the Soviet consulate, is known as the "west red building" in Shamian. In the 20th century, Shamian was the center of consulates of various countries in Guangzhou. More than ten countries set up consulates in Shamian, and nine foreign banks and more than 40 foreign banks operated in Shamian. At present, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Guangzhou still exists on the island. Shamian Xidi was rated as a 3A scenic spot in 2021. The natural beauty attracts various professional photographers to take photos. The unique historical and cultural background has created a unique cultural landscape integrating Eastern and Western cultures. The livable environment and complete supporting facilities also provide good basic conditions for the construction of international blocks in the jurisdiction. There are 16 foreign capital, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan enterprises and Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group, one of the world's top 500 enterprises, gathered here, and attracted many international talents to develop here. At present, Shamian, as a comprehensive management demonstration area in Liwan, has introduced market forces to implement fine management throughout the island. In the future, Shamian will focus on building an international urban reception hall.
