2022-07-26
Editor's note: while 5g has profoundly changed the Innovation Logic of thousands of industries, 5.5G is coming to us quickly. As the evolution and enhancement of 5g, 5.5G will become a new base of new infrastructure. On the more advanced innovation platform built by Huawei in the information age, the combination innovation mode of production factors will be more and more unrestricted. The upcoming 5.5G era not only contains huge market potential and opportunities, but also marks the opening of a larger, more efficient and more valuable innovation ecosystem. Holographic communication, centimeter precision positioning, zero contact medical treatment; Smarter factories, mines, ports, higher-level autonomous driving... In the 2022 Huawei win innovation week, which has just ended, a picture of the future of the 5.5G era is slowly unfolding: from people's daily life to thousands of industries, a new round of energy level transition will be ushered in in the 5.5G era, and Huawei, as a leader, is gathering global innovation forces and opening up the imagination of a new era. The six features of 5.5G create new value faster, and users' network speed experience reaches 10Gbps; Update, bringing new scenarios and applications that go beyond traditional connections; More samples to achieve 10x effective computing power improvement; More efficient, achieving a 10x improvement in storage performance; More intelligent, and the autonomous driving network reaches L4 with a high degree of autonomy; More green, "green site - Green Network - green operation" continues to reduce the energy consumption per unit bit... "The six characteristic capabilities of 5.5G will create new value for digital life and digital development." Wang Tao, executive director of Huawei and director of ICT infrastructure business management committee, said in his keynote speech "continuous innovation and comprehensively moving towards the 5.5G era". In the face of booming demand, ICT infrastructure must speed up intergenerational development: in daily life, people's demand for "close proximity" and "immersive" experiences requires technological development to further help human beings interact with the virtual world in real time; When industry digitalization enters the fast lane of development, AI (Artificial Intelligence) will fully enter the production process of enterprises. In complex scenes, robot human collaboration puts forward higher requirements for the next generation of industrial field network; The bottleneck on the supply side of computing power restricts the further release of demand for computing power. There are prominent problems such as "memory wall", uneven resource utilization of data centers, and energy efficiency. In the future, the whole industry should innovate from the architecture and system level to break through the bottleneck on the supply side of computing power. According to the "10-year law" of the communication industry, a new generation of communication technology will appear every 10 years, and the transmission of larger data using the new spectrum is bound to occur. 2019 is called the first year of 5g business, and the 6G probability will appear around 2030. As a half generation technology of 5g, the time window of 5.5G is about 2025. In fact, as early as the 11th mobile broadband forum in 2020, Huawei first proposed the wireless communication 5.5G initiative, and proposed the fixed communication f5.5g initiative at the global analyst conference in April this year. During this innovation week, Wang Tao put forward the net5.5g initiative to meet the ubiquitous computing power acquisition requirements of intelligent applications and define the intergenerational evolution of IP networks. "When digitalization enters the deep-water area, intelligent applications are commercially available on a large scale, and computing resources are all over the cloud. Enterprises should aim to obtain computing power from the cloud with low cost, high agility and flexibility, so they must continue to innovate." The biggest feature of the 5.5G era is that the network capability extends from connection to perception, which will bring new scenarios and applications beyond the traditional. For example, the application of wireless sensing and optical fiber sensing technology in vehicle road coordination, environmental monitoring and other scenarios has become a reality; Passive IOT (passive Internet of things) integrates cellular and passive tag technology, opening up hundreds of billions of connection space; 5.5G core network starts from the breakthrough of architecture and root technology, enabling innovative business scenarios such as industrial private network, industrial field network and new call. Continuous innovation leads the technological direction. 5g has been deeply branded by Huawei: in the 5g standard research stage, Huawei submitted tens of thousands of proposals to the global wireless communication standard setting organization 3GPP. The number of 5g patents owned by Huawei accounts for more than 20% of the global total, ranking first among global manufacturers. After 5g was put into commercial use, Huawei continued to lead the 5g equipment market with the world's largest shipment. When Huawei takes the lead in opening the door of the 5.5G era, what technological direction will it lead? Yang Chaobin, President of Huawei's wireless network product line, revealed in a keynote speech entitled "moving towards 5.5G continuous innovation and opening a new journey in the 5g industry": "in order to meet the new requirements of the new services of TOC and the applications of Tob industry for 5g network capabilities, Huawei will move towards 5.5G continuous innovation and realize embB (enhanced mobile broadband), urllc (ultra reliable low latency communication) and mmtc (large-scale Internet of things) At the same time, new revolutionary capabilities such as precision sensing, passive IOT, high-precision positioning, and intelligence have been enhanced, and a 5.5G network of 'downlink 10Gbps, uplink 1Gbps, 100 billion connections, and endogenous intelligence' has been built, opening a new journey for the industry. " From the perspective of technology path, ultra wide bandwidth +elaa-mm (ultra large antenna array m-mimo) is the key to realize 10Gbps. Yang Chaobin said, "first of all, the ultra wideband spectrum is the cornerstone, and we need to make full use of the sub 100GHz spectrum including FDD spectrum, C-band, 6GHz and millimeter wave. With the coverage challenges faced in the use of high-frequency bands, elaa-mm has become a must. The ultra large-scale antenna array can achieve a higher frequency band with the same coverage capacity as C-band, making it possible for users to enjoy 10Gbps everywhere." The reporter found that during the Huawei win win innovation week, focusing on the demand trend in the 5.5G era, the company mainly released solutions such as intelligent cloud network 2.0, all-optical quality transportation network products, green development and so on. Among them, intelligent cloud 2.0, based on Intelligent Cloud 1.0, helps operators transform from connection providers to digital service providers by upgrading in four aspects: new architecture, new experience, new mode and new services. "With the deepening of industry digitalization, operators expand business boundaries to meet the needs of industry digitalization transformation, and improve connectivity to meet the expansion of business scope. The scope of connectivity extends from Wan up to cloud and down to the park." Said zhaozhipeng, vice president of Huawei data communication product line. The all-optical quality transport network hopes to provide deterministic transport capacity, so that computing power can be "accessed at one point and used as you choose" like tap water. Jin Yuzhi, President of Huawei optical product line, shared the application practice of jointly exploring transportation network with operators and partners. More than 10 provinces or municipalities directly under the central government have deployed all-optical quality transportation network in China. In addition, Ding Yun, President of Huawei operator BG, pointed out a problem in development - the contradiction between the increase in energy consumption caused by traffic growth and the carbon emission reduction target. In order to realize the harmonious coexistence of "development" and "green", energy efficiency improvement is imperative. Songxiaodi, chief marketing officer of Huawei operator BG, believes that technological innovation should be carried out from three dimensions to achieve the goal of green development. From the perspective of single station and single equipment, continue to improve equipment energy efficiency and renewable energy efficiency, and carry out technological innovation around all outdoor, highly integrated and new materials; From the perspective of cross station collaboration and networking, simplify the network architecture, improve the forwarding efficiency, maximize the energy efficiency of the whole network, and finally move towards the three characteristics of all-optical, minimalist and intelligent; From the perspective of green operation and maintenance of the whole network, formulate operation and maintenance strategies for energy efficiency improvement, generate and issue energy-saving strategies, and form a baseline for the visibility, manageability and optimization of energy efficiency indicators. The reporter noted that the green development solution released by Huawei focuses on these three dimensions, including an index system, namely, the network carbon emission intensity index system; 3-tier architecture solution: green site, green network and green operation, and systematically support operators to improve network energy efficiency. "The network carbon emission intensity index system standard has been reviewed and approved by the fifth research group of the Telecommunications Standardization Department of the International Telecommunication Union, and is expected to be released as a formal standard within this year." Ding Yun said. Data shows that Huawei has helped operators deploy green development solutions in more than 100 countries. In Germany, through the deployment of powerstar solutions, self optimization of energy efficiency at the minute level has been achieved, and energy efficiency has been greatly improved; In Spain, by deploying OXC in the backbone network, energy efficiency has been improved by 81%, resulting in 29% cost savings; At the green site in Turkey, the original machine room is replaced by the one station one cabinet scheme, which saves the space of the machine room and the use of air conditioners. A single station can save 19000 kwh of electricity per year. In the face of the huge market potential and opportunities in the 5.5G era, Huawei proposes to work with operators and industry partners to continue industrial innovation and jointly explore development. The innovation ecosystem thus built will burst out greater innovation momentum. "In order to meet the diversified needs of thousands of industries, in addition to the continuous enhancement of the existing capacity of 5g, wireless networks also need new revolutionary capabilities such as precision sensing, passive IOT, and intelligence. Therefore, we hope to work together with global industrial partners to promote the continuous innovation of 5g technology on the basis of protecting the existing investment of operators and move towards the new era of 5.5G." Yang Chaobin said. The industry believes that Huawei plays three roles in the 5.5G era: it is not only a visionary, but also a consensus promoter - cooperating with all parties in the wireless industry, such as operators, equipment manufacturers, chip and terminal suppliers, and industrial organizations, to reach a consensus on 5g evolution application scenarios, capacity requirements, and key technology directions, so as to promote and accelerate industrial development; At the same time, it is also a reality builder, and continues to promote the formulation of 5.5G standards, technological breakthroughs, ecological construction and other aspects. In fact, since Huawei proposed the wireless communication 5.5G initiative in 2020, innovative practices have emerged in an endless stream throughout the industry. During this Huawei win win innovation week, Huawei and China Unicom Video Technology Co., Ltd. jointly released the Lingjing 3D solution. The scheme supports on-demand and live broadcast to automatically output 3D video streams, greatly reducing the cost of 3D content production, helping operators to innovate continuously, enrich user experience, and create new growth points of video business. It is worth mentioning that Lingjing 3D solution breaks the limitation of high-cost 3D terminals. Users can enjoy 3D video content on their ordinary mobile phones without wearing 3D glasses. The system can also track eyeballs in real time and complete video optimization within 300ms. From 5g to 5.5G, it is essentially a kind of digital enabling technology, which helps agriculture, mining, port industry, power industry and other industries to improve quality, increase efficiency and reduce cost. Over the past two years, 5g has developed more than expected. The data shows that there are more than thousands of 5g tob contracts of the three major domestic operators, enabling medical, mining, chemical, port, education, business travel and other industries, with the contract amount reaching billions of yuan. Moving towards the 5.5G era in an all-round way requires the whole industry to move forward hand in hand, work together, promote the maturity of standards, and help the industry prosper. At the Huawei win win innovation week, Wang Tao proposed three major initiatives on behalf of Huawei: first, jointly define the vision and evolution direction of the 5.5G era; The second is to define the specific technical development route in the future within the framework of 3GPP, ETSI, ITU and other standards; Third, work together to prosper the industrial ecosystem, incubate more application scenarios, and accelerate the transformation of digitalization and intelligence. The proposal of these three major initiatives also marks the beginning of the 5.5G era and the opening of a new ecosystem. (Xinhua News Agency)
