(Figure: as an international city, Hong Kong's stable and sufficient power and energy supply is an important factor in consolidating its competitiveness.) Recently, the weather is extremely hot, and the director of the department turns on the air conditioner, resulting in a surge in power demand. There is a global energy shortage crisis. Only Hong Kong has no worries about electricity consumption, which all depends on the stable energy supply of the mainland. Among them, natural gas, which accounts for the largest proportion of power generation in Hong Kong, has been stably transmitted to Hong Kong since 2013 through the "west east gas pipeline II", the largest natural gas pipeline project in the mainland. In addition, Hong Kong's electricity imports from the mainland have also increased over the past decade, with a 17% increase between 2011 and 2021. Some members of the Legislative Council believe that Hong Kong people need to use electricity to "source" to relieve summer heat. "It's good to have a cool place with your back against a big tree. Some places in the mainland sometimes cut off electricity, but it's completely guaranteed for Hong Kong! It's touching!". Turning on the air conditioner for a long time in extreme heat should think about the "source" every summer, citizens and market directors such as shopping malls turn on the air conditioner, which consumes a lot of power. According to the data of CLP from July to September 2021, the company has a total of 2.699 million customers of all kinds, with the sales of electricity up to 11.086 billion kwh, with an average consumption of 4107 kwh per customer. The sales of electricity by customers in residential, commercial, infrastructure and public services account for the largest proportion. From January to March this year, the local electricity sales were 6.84 billion kwh, with 2.719 million customers, and the average electricity consumption per customer was 2516 kwh, most of which were commercial, infrastructure and public service customers. In recent years, the fuel mix of power generation in Hong Kong has changed, and the proportion of natural gas has increased. In terms of electricity output, natural gas and Daya Bay nuclear power accounted for 21% and 22% respectively in 2013. By 2020, natural gas has risen to 48%, and nuclear and renewable energy combined accounted for 28%. Hong Kong is a small place, but more than half of the population lives or works on the 15th floor or above. More than 70000 lifts operate every day. In addition, infrastructure and mass transit railways all need stable electricity to maintain. The environment and ecology bureau predicts that the electricity consumption in Hong Kong will rise from 43billion kwh last year to about 50billion kwh next year; The bureau also said that Hong Kong's electricity is stable, and the power supply stability of the two power companies has reached 99.99%. The electricity consumption in Hong Kong is expected to reach 50billion kwh next year. At present, the fuel supply of electricity in Hong Kong is mainly natural gas, nuclear energy and renewable energy. As a clean, environmental friendly and low emission fuel, the proportion of natural gas used for power generation is increasing. Where does this natural gas come from? In order to introduce new natural gas sources to maintain the stable natural gas supply of Hong Kong, the central government and the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region signed the memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation in 2008, which stipulated three new natural gas sources from the mainland to supply Hong Kong, including the second line of the west east natural gas pipeline; The new liquefied natural gas station to be built in Shenzhen; And new gas sources from the South China Sea. Among them, the second line of west east natural gas pipeline arrived in Hong Kong first in 2013. The second line of West to east gas transmission pipeline passes through 14 provinces, cities and autonomous regions in the mainland. In order to support Hong Kong, with the support of the central government, a branch trunk line from Shenzhen to Hong Kong was set up, and the two places signed a 20-year long-term agreement. On March 9, 2013, the natural gas transmitted through the second line of west east gas transmission network was officially transmitted to Hong Kong longgutan power plant. According to statistics, as of March 2021, the Dachan island off load compressor station of the west east natural gas transmission project of the national pipeline network has supplied more than 10billion cubic meters of natural gas to Hong Kong. Ge peifan, chairman of the Legislative Council Panel on environmental affairs, told Ta Kung Pao that it is good to enjoy the cool by backing on a big tree. The mainland supplies Hong Kong's nuclear power and natural gas, which makes Hong Kong's power supply stable, and the quality and price "fair". She said that various regions compete for energy, and the price of natural gas fluctuates due to tight supply. However, with the assistance of the central government, Hong Kong has signed a long-term contract with the mainland, and the supply of natural gas in Hong Kong has been guaranteed. She hoped that the SAR government and the Guangdong provincial government would discuss further cooperation with Dawan District cities in the future to increase the supply of renewable energy and hydrogen energy to Hong Kong, so that Hong Kong could have more pollution-free energy. China Southern Power Grid has set up an emergency assistance mechanism for Hong Kong. The hot weather in Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay continues, and the demand for electricity increases. China Southern Power Grid said that at present, the Guangdong Hong Kong interconnection line operates safely and stably. On the basis of ensuring the reliable power supply in Hong Kong, China Southern Power Grid has established an emergency support mechanism for Hong Kong, including providing peak load and frequency regulation and accident emergency services. Next, it will continue to improve its emergency support capacity for Hong Kong power. It is understood that Guangdong and Hong Kong have already established a liaison and coordination mechanism on power supply and other aspects, and have established an emergency support mechanism for Hong Kong. In the meantime, the two sides solved various management and technical problems in the networking operation through timely communication and coordination, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the Guangdong Hong Kong networking line. For example, in early March this year, China Southern Power Grid received the emergency power demand of the Central Hong Kong assistance shelter hospital in the Lok Ma Chau Hetao area of Hong Kong, and for the first time, it supplied power to Hong Kong through a 10 kV line across the border, successfully supplying power to the Hong Kong quarantine facilities at Huanggang port. At present, China Southern Power Grid is connected to Hong Kong through "11 circuit high-voltage transmission lines", transmitting nearly 80% of the power generation of Daya Bay nuclear power station to Hong Kong, and providing peak shaving, frequency modulation and accident emergency services. At the same time, China Southern Power Grid can also use unmanned aerial vehicles for fine inspection and close observation to eliminate potential safety hazards at the first time. Establish an efficient smart grid in 2030. In order to further enhance the emergency support capacity for Hong Kong's power, China Southern Power Grid plans to start the 500 kV Huanggang power transmission and transformation project by 2025, and will complete the transformation and upgrading of four high-voltage lines and Shenzhen substation; At that time, the emergency support capacity for Hong Kong will reach 2.7 million KW, an increase of 60% over the current level, which will be more effective in ensuring Hong Kong's economic and social development. It is reported that at present, China Southern Power Grid has also accelerated the construction of a safe, reliable, green and efficient smart grid for Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay area. It is planned that by 2030, the Greater Bay area will take the lead in building a world-class smart grid. At the same time, we will vigorously support the development and utilization of clean energy such as offshore wind power and distributed photovoltaic. By 2035, the installed proportion of clean energy in the bay area is expected to reach 80%, enabling the bay area to develop in a high quality. The second line of the west east gas transmission project is the first large-scale pipeline to introduce overseas natural gas resources (see Figure). It connects the Central Asia China natural gas pipeline with the rich natural gas source of Turkmen in Central Asia, headed by Horgos in Xinjiang in the west, and extends eastward. It passes through 14 provinces, counties and autonomous regions, including the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta, and reaches Hong Kong longgutan power plant through Shenzhen, Its main trunk line and eight branches are about 9000 kilometers long, making it the longest natural gas pipeline in the world. The trunk line of the second line project was completed and put into operation on June 30, 2011, connecting major natural gas transportation trunk lines and pipeline networks in the mainland. The commencement ceremony was held in Hong Kong in March 2012. On March 9, 2013, natural gas was officially connected to the submarine gas pipeline by Shenzhen Dachan Island gas transmission station and transmitted to Hong Kong longgutan power plant for local power generation in Hong Kong. As of March 2021, Dachan island off load compressor station has supplied more than 10billion cubic meters of natural gas to Hong Kong. 80% of the capacity of Daya Bay nuclear power plant is supplied to Hong Kong. Nearly 30% of the electricity in Hong Kong comes from nuclear and renewable energy, most of which comes from Guangdong Daya Bay nuclear power plant. The nuclear power plant was built on August 7, 1987, and two pressurized water reactor generating units were put into operation in 1994. The total installed capacity is 1968 MW. About 80% of nuclear power is supplied to Hong Kong and 20% to Guangdong. Daya Bay nuclear power plant is a nuclear power plant jointly built by the mainland and China Power Group in Guangdong Province in 1985. It is the first large-scale commercial nuclear power plant in the mainland and the first large-scale power generation project developed by China Power Group in the mainland. CLP and Guangdong Nuclear Power Investment Group hold 25% and 75% shares respectively. Daya Bay nuclear power station is located in an area with low earthquake risk. The nuclear power station is also designed according to the actual situation around to resist natural disasters such as tsunami and earthquake. (Xinhua News Agency)
