Researchers at the Hebrew University in Israel have recently developed a new method for early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, which has a higher sensitivity to observe the microstructure of the striatum deep in the brain than the common MRI. Researchers recently published a paper in the American Journal of scientific progress that using a method called quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance (qMRI) to capture multiple NMR images with different excitation energies can achieve high sensitivity in the detection of striatal microstructure. The researchers explained that this is like taking photos of the same object under different colors of light, and then synthesizing them for analysis. It is reported that the sensitivity of conventional MRI scanning of the brain is limited, and sometimes it can not meet the demand in revealing the changes in the brain of patients with Parkinson's disease. Using this quantitative NMR to analyze the changes in the striatum deep in the brain can achieve the sensitivity previously achieved only when the brain cells of the dead are examined in the laboratory, so as to better detect the severity of Parkinson's disease and contribute to early diagnosis.
