The ceremony to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the outbreak of the national war of resistance against Japan was held at the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan Memorial Hall on the morning of July 7. Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. By the Lugou Bridge in Beijing, the memorial hall of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan stands majestically. At 10 a.m., the ceremony began. The PLA military band played the march of the volunteers and the whole audience sang the National Anthem of the people's Republic of China. Afterwards, the whole audience stood in silence to pay tribute to the martyrs who died bravely in the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan. University student representatives in the capital took the oath. Wang Huning said in his speech that 85 years ago today, in order to achieve the evil ambition of annexing the whole of China by force, the Japanese invaders brazenly shelled Wanping City, creating the Lugouqiao Incident that shocked China and the world. The Chinese army and people rose up to resist, the national war of resistance broke out, and opened up the main Eastern battlefield of the world anti fascist war. At the historical juncture of the life and death of the Chinese nation, the Communist Party of China upholds the great national righteousness, holds high the banner of resistance against Japan, actively advocates and vigorously promotes the Anti Japanese national united front based on the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, waged the bravest and most resolute struggle against the Japanese invaders, and became the mainstay of the national war of resistance. All the Chinese people went to the national calamity and fought bloody battles, which demonstrated the indomitable backbone and spirit of the Chinese nation. Grasp the historical initiative, better forge ahead on a new journey and make contributions to a new era. We should unswervingly strengthen the great unity of the Chinese people, dare to fight, be good at creativity, and persevere in striving for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Wang Huning and other leading comrades also presented flowers to the heroes of the Anti Japanese war together with representatives from all walks of life, and visited the "beacon imprint - special exhibition of Beijing Anti Japanese War theme area".
