There are no cases related to acute hepatitis in children with unknown causes in China

2022-05-09

Recently, many countries have reported cases of acute hepatitis in children with unknown causes, which has aroused widespread concern. The National Health Commission attached great importance to it and timely organized experts to conduct analysis, research and judgment. The relevant information is as follows: 1. Are there any cases of acute hepatitis in children with unknown causes in China? A: at present, no relevant cases have been found in China. Health administrative departments and medical institutions at all levels are paying close attention to and continuously monitoring the relevant situation. 2. What are the manifestations of acute hepatitis in children with unknown causes? How to find it in time? Answer: the common characteristics of children with acute hepatitis are as follows: ① the age is from 1 month to 16 years old, and most of them are under 10 years old; ② Jaundice, nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, lethargy and gastrointestinal symptoms (including diarrhea and vomiting) occur, and most children have no fever; ③ The transaminase (AST or ALT) was significantly elevated in the laboratory liver biochemical examination. If the child has the above-mentioned symptoms, parents should be vigilant and go to the hospital in time. It is suggested to check the liver biochemical indicators and do relevant etiological tests such as blood, urine, feces and respiratory tract samples to further determine whether the child has acute hepatitis and possible etiology. 3. How to prevent acute hepatitis in children? Answer: there are many causes of acute hepatitis in children. The main route of infection is through the digestive tract and blood. Some of the children with acute hepatitis of unknown cause reported abroad were positive for adenovirus. At present, the main preventive measures are to prevent children from going to crowded and airless public places, cut off the way of contact with droplets and feces, ensure children's adequate sleep and nutrition, regularly clean children's clothes and frequently contacted articles, wash hands frequently, wear masks, and maintain social distance. If children have hepatitis such as jaundice and digestive tract symptoms, they need to seek medical treatment in time. At present, the experience accumulated in the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic in China and the improvement of the health protection awareness of the masses are of considerable benefit to the prevention of acute hepatitis in children with unknown causes. 4. Is acute hepatitis in children of unknown cause related to novel coronavirus vaccination? A: according to the recent survey of the World Health Organization, most children with unexplained acute hepatitis have not been vaccinated against novel coronavirus, so the hypothesis related to novel coronavirus vaccination is not supported at present.
