Shu Jinyu's series of "in-depth dialogue": literary archives of an era
2022-02-09
As an educator, I have a natural preference for non fiction works such as biographies and dialogues, because such works help people find the prototype and example of life. In fact, the new educational experimental project I initiated has been studying and exploring the reading of biographies over the years. According to the life narrative theory of new education, everyone is the author and protagonist of his own life story, but everyone has his own life prototype consciously or unconsciously in the process of growing up. These archetypes are often the lighthouse that shines on them and the source of strength for them to overcome all kinds of difficulties in their growth. Roman Roland said that each of us has tired moments. The hearts of heroes can warm us, and we can draw the power of life from them. Therefore, when telling their own life story, everyone will consciously or unconsciously quote some prototype language or deeds. Therefore, when I received the in-depth dialogue Lu prize writer (published by the people's Literature Publishing House in October 2021) sent by Shu Jinyu, a reporter of China reading daily, I carefully read it at the first time. In addition to reading her previously published "Mao award writer for in-depth dialogue", I went deeper into the group of the best writers in contemporary China to explore their growth process and life trajectory. The two books tracked and interviewed 36 Mao prize winners, 49 Lu prize winners and 20 judges of Mao prize and Lu prize, from Li Guowen, Liu Xinwu, Chen Zhongshi, Zhang Ping, Alai, Wang Anyi, Jia Pingwa, Chi Zijian, Mai Jia, Mo Yan, Bi Feiyu, Wang Meng, Ge Fei, to Shi Tiesheng, Chi Li, fan Xiaoqing, Feng Jicai, Tie Ning, Shao Yanxiang, Liu Heng, Yu Qiuyu, Han Shaogong Li Jingze, Nanfan, Ren Rongrong and tu'an, although these names can not outline the whole picture of Chinese contemporary literature, they still roughly describe a "picture of the river during the Qingming Festival" of contemporary literature. In the dialogue between Shu Jinyu and them, we can see how Zhang Ping "writes for the common people from life to death", how Alai regards writing as "a game of high IQ", how Jia Pingwa writes "his own fear and helplessness", how Chi Zijian makes his works "catch the wind and frost of years", and how Zhou Daxin writes "works that make people feel warm and beautiful", How Liu Zhenyun "keeps returning himself to zero" and how Su Tong "keeps things sensitive"; We can also see how Shi Tiesheng "finds sufficient reasons to live", how Tie Ning "conveys considerate feelings to the world" through literature, and how Shao Yanxiang conveys his "quenched optimism" through his works. The reading and growth process of these writers, their attitude towards life and their understanding of the world can be seen from these highly concise titles. As a "passer-by" who often accepts various interviews, I always believe that an excellent reporter should first be an excellent reader, and it is best to be an excellent scholar. Only journalists with the latter two qualities can write truly high-level and moving articles. Some interviews often make people feel dull, because these reporters have never done their homework, read relevant reports or read the main works of the interviewees in advance. The questions raised are also simple information that can be solved by turning over the materials a little. Some interviews are often exciting, because these reporters not only study a lot of literature, but also know the "details" of the interviewees like the back of their fingers. The questions raised are of high quality and challenging, which really turns the interview into dialogue. Shu Jinyu meets the standards of good readers and good scholars. Taking the dialogue between her and Liu Xinwu as an example, in order to prepare for the dialogue, she has read more than 20 works by Liu Xinwu, such as head teacher, four archways, bell and Drum Tower, Qifeng tower, shrew chicken, standing ice, stealing father, I love every green leaf, Ruyi, bus aria, Liu Xinwu's secret of a dream of Red Mansions and floating window. Another example is the interview with fan Xiaoqing, which is not only about her award-winning novel "a brief history of urban and rural areas", but also from the early "descendants of Gu", and then goes deep into a large number of works such as incense, my name is Wang Cun, Guixiang street, extinction of books, barefoot doctor Wanquanhe and so on A writer always has deep respect for journalists who have carefully studied his works and has a strong interest in dialogue. As Mr. Wang Meng said, "Shu Jinyu's questions are kind, peaceful and direct, and can always unconsciously stimulate your interest in conversation." Mr. Han Shaogong also believes that Shu Jinyu's dialogue, although not strictly creative, has "uncovered the source code of creation"; Although it is not a valuable theoretical storm, it is not a new theoretical storm. I especially like the "interview notes" written by Shu Jinyu for each dialogue. The short essay of less than 1000 words includes not only the character sketch of the writer, but also the incisive appreciation of the works, as well as her understanding of literature and life. These two books can be regarded as the literary archives of an era. It records the selection process of previous Mao Dun Literature Awards and Lu Xun Literature Awards, the process of winning writers' creation of these works and their mentality after winning the awards, as well as the performance of the judges in the evaluation process. It reads with a sense of scene. For example, Jia Pingwa ate mutton steamed bun at noon that day after winning the prize; When Chen Zhongshi heard that the prize could be published, he shouted, "you can stop raising chickens"; When Liu Zhenyun was informed of the award, he was hesitating on whether to buy tomatoes or eggplant in the vegetable market, and resolutely bought more expensive tomatoes. These two books can be called journalists' textbooks. These two books are worth reading for young people who are preparing to engage in the journalist industry and those who are working as journalists but feel a little tired. Be a real reader like Shu Jinyu, take every interview seriously, and approach your interviewees through reading. Then he made great efforts to practice, become a small expert in a certain field, become a scholar who does not speak jargon, and become a person who can talk with the interviewees on an equal footing. If you can walk freely among journalists, readers and scholars like Shu Jinyu, you can enjoy your professional life and enjoy the happiness of growth.
