Last December, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution on the Olympic Truce of the Beijing Winter Olympics, with the participation of 173 countries, which once again reflects the political consensus of the international community that all parties to the conflict should achieve a ceasefire. China strongly calls on all countries and parties to the conflict to earnestly abide by this truce tradition and the resolution of the general assembly, take the Beijing Winter Olympic Games as an opportunity to eliminate differences with dialogue and replace confrontation with cooperation, so as to demonstrate the firm determination of the international community to achieve peace, unity, solidarity and work together for the future. Zhang Jun said that eliminating the root causes of conflict is the fundamental strategy to achieve lasting peace. War is a systematic risk for civilians. The international community should adhere to promoting peace through development and alleviate the absolute poverty and other problems leading to conflict through sustainable development.
