The Bureau of statistics and census of the Macao SAR government announced on the 20th that there were 7705943 inbound tourists to Macao in 2021, an increase of 30.7% over 2020 and a decrease of more than 80% compared with 2019. According to statistics, there were 4009143 non overnight passengers (52%) and 3696800 overnight passengers (48%) respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 30.4% and 31%. The average length of stay of passengers increased by 0.2 days to 1.6 days year-on-year. Figures show that in 2021, there were 7045058 mainland tourists, a year-on-year increase of 48.2%, including individual tourists (2449128), an increase of 31.3%, and tourists in nine cities of the Pearl River Delta in Dawan district (4117836), an increase of 59.9%; On the other hand, Hong Kong (589014 passengers) and Taiwan (70950 passengers) decreased by 30.1% and 31.9% respectively. According to the statistics of entry channels, there were 7003735 passengers entering by land throughout the year, with a year-on-year increase of 39.1%. There were 501387 passengers entering by air and 200821 passengers entering by sea respectively. Specifically, by December 2021, there will be 820870 inbound passengers, with a monthly increase of 2.4% and an annual increase of 24.5%. According to the analysis of tourist sources, mainland tourists increased by 25.7% year-on-year to 762554, including 279464 individual tourists, 50768 tourists from Hong Kong and 7306 tourists from Taiwan respectively.
