In March last year, the report on the development of China's national mental health (2019-2020) released by the Institute of psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences showed that 95.5% of primary school students, 90.8% of junior middle school students and 84.1% of senior high school students did not meet the sleep length standard. In order to effectively protect the rights and interests of minors and better promote the implementation of the "double reduction" policy, in April 2021, the general office of the Ministry of Education issued the notice on Further Strengthening the sleep management of primary and secondary school students, which clearly requires that primary school students sleep 10 hours a day, junior high school students 9 hours and senior high school students 8 hours. The reasons are as follows: first, people have insufficient understanding of the harm of sleeping on their stomach, and their subjective initiative to change is not strong. From a professional point of view, students sleeping on their stomach will cause pressure on their eyes. In the long run, it is easy to induce eye diseases. In addition, unhealthy sleeping posture will also affect blood circulation and harm other parts of the body. Second, there is a lack of rigid assessment mechanism and the driving force of external constraints is not strong. From the pilot point of view in some places, it is not difficult for children to change from lying down to taking a nap. They can "make conditional use of conditions and create conditions unconditionally". For example, the first batch of pilot "lunch break" schools include Xinhua experimental primary school, Desheng primary school and Yongzheng experimental school in Hangzhou. These schools either turn some unused classrooms into students' nap rooms, or put cushions on the open space of the classroom according to local conditions to facilitate children's sleep, as well as customized multi-functional nap beds or purchase very comfortable sleeping pillows. Of course, more dormitories can be built, and even spare teachers' dormitories can be used to solve the dilemma of "insufficient hardware". From the current situation, it is not easy to change students' lying down nap in the short term. The Ministry of education's "sleep order" defines "what to do", but there is still a lack of assessment and restraint mechanism on how to do, with more flexibility and less rigidity. In particular, the requirement of nap is still in the promotion stage, and the elastic space is too large, so it is not easy for schools to make great changes independently. On the basis of recognizing the harm of lying down, it is urgent to put lying down and taking a nap into the agenda as soon as possible, and plan the timetable and road map. On the one hand, we should formulate scientific and reasonable guidelines, such as time, venue and other conditions, so that there are rules to follow for nap. On the other hand, it should be supplemented by corresponding guarantee mechanisms, such as supervision and inspection and performance evaluation.
