The reporter learned from the Guangdong Provincial Forestry Bureau on the 1st that the South China tiger mother "Mengmeng" of Shaoguan South China tiger breeding research base of the Management Office of South China tiger Provincial Nature Reserve in northern Guangdong gave birth to two tiger babies on the new year's night, setting a record of "three births and four cubs a year". (two South China tiger cubs born by South China tiger "Mengmeng" at South China tiger breeding research base in Shaoguan, Guangdong.) South China tiger is a unique subspecies of tiger in China. It lives in central and southern China and belongs to the national first-class protected animal. At present, there are only more than 200 in China, all of which are artificially raised. According to the introduction of South China tiger Provincial Nature Reserve in northern Guangdong, the two tiger babies were born after 23:00 on December 31, 2021. Their father is "Xiaoman" from Luoyang and their mother is "Mengmeng" from Shanghai. The "heroic couple" had previously produced two South China tiger babies "Yuanyuan" and "Qingqing" in March and September 2021. South China tiger population is a highly inbreeding population, and the pregnancy rate and cub survival rate of the whole population are low. Due to the cold weather, the breeding research base is organizing experts and technicians to closely monitor the two South China tiger cubs, strengthen the cold and heat preservation measures of South China tiger cubs, and formulate strict plans to ensure the healthy growth of South China tiger cubs. The South China tiger Provincial Nature Reserve in northern Guangdong is the earliest South China tiger Nature Reserve in China. A South China tiger breeding base was established in 2008. The base covers an area of more than 200 mu and contains 13 South China tigers. It is a large-scale South China tiger breeding research base integrating scientific research, popular science education and ecotourism in China. (outlook new era)
