On December 12, 2021, the staff worked on the site of the large-scale protection project of Fengxian Temple in Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang. Longmen Grottoes, a world cultural heritage site located in Luoyang, Henan Province, started the large-scale leakage water treatment and dangerous rock reinforcement and protection project of Fengxian Temple. This is a large-scale protection project started again after 50 years since the protection and restoration project of Fengxian Temple was carried out in 1971. Longmen Grottoes is the largest stone carving art treasure house with the largest number of statues in the world. It is rated as "the highest peak of Chinese stone carving art" by UNESCO. Among them, Fengxian Temple is the cliff type group sculpture with the largest excavation scale and the most exquisite art in Longmen Grottoes, but it has been affected by water leakage, rock cracking, microorganisms and other disease factors for a long time. The protection project will control relevant diseases, which is conducive to the long-term preservation of cultural relics. It is understood that a series of new technologies and methods such as ground penetrating radar detection, infrared imaging technology and 3D scanning mapping technology have been tried in the preliminary survey and design of the project. In order to facilitate tourists to visit, the protection project adopts the semi closed construction method, and the main project is planned to be completed before April next year. (outlook new era)
