The Chief Secretary for administration of the HKSAR government, Li Jiachao, delivered a speech at the 2021 Cyber Security Elite recognition scheme award ceremony on the 2nd. He said that without cyber security, there would be no national security. Hong Kong would strengthen the fight against cyber crimes and would review the laws on safeguarding cyber security and combating false information. Li Jiachao said that the development of information technology and the popularization of network applications have brought a lot of convenience to people's life and all walks of life. The SAR government will support more industries to adopt 5g innovative applications, develop Hong Kong into a smart city and improve the quality of life of citizens. He said that the popularization of network applications also makes the society face higher network security risks. During the "storm of amending the law", many anti China and Hong Kong disorderly elements used the Internet to spread extreme ideas such as "Hong Kong Independence" and separatism. Some also deliberately distributed false information, incited hatred, provoked division, and tried to poison the people and harm the society. Li Jiachao said that Hong Kong will strengthen the fight against cyber crimes, review the laws on maintaining network security and combating false information, protect the network security of Hong Kong's key information infrastructure, combat the dissemination of false information and hate speech in social media, and ensure the comprehensive maintenance of national security. The network security elite recognition program was held in 2016. It brings together professionals engaged in network security in different industries to provide a platform for mutual exchange and experience sharing in order to improve network security and build a healthy network ecosystem. The 2021 Cyber Security Elite commendation scheme award ceremony also kicked off the "cross year city wide Cyber Defense campaign" of the Hong Kong Police Force. (outlook new era)
