Pay attention to the practice of ecological environmental protection and carry forward the ecological culture of Taoism

The sub forum of the 9th yazonghe Congress focuses on "religious culture and ecological civilization", which is of great practical significance. In the process of global ecological environmental protection, the significance and role of religion is significant. Taking Taoism as an example, Taoism is a religion that advocates nature and protects ecology. In the past two thousand years, in the process of following nature and protecting nature, it has bred rich ecological culture and ecological wisdom. Taoism advocates that "all tangible things contain Taoism", which embodies the ecological concept of "the unity of heaven and man". One of the meanings of "the unity of heaven and man" is to follow the natural laws, protect the natural environment, save natural resources, maintain ecological balance, and live in harmony and co prosperity with all natural things, which is an important prerequisite for human survival and sustainable development. Taoism is a religion that advocates "frugality" and "stinginess". In the Tao Te Ching, "I have three treasures, hold them and protect them. One is kindness, the other is frugality, and the third is not dare to be the first in the world". Both of them advocate weakening their material desires and not asking too much from nature in order to satisfy their material desires. Their purpose is also to save natural resources, So as to live in harmony with nature. Taoists of past dynasties have left many wisdom and deeds in environmental protection. When Heavenly Master Zhang Daoling preached in Qingcheng Mountain, Sichuan, he led his disciples to plant trees widely. At present, the ancient ginkgo trees planted by Zhang Daoling are still preserved in the Tianshi cave of Qingcheng Mountain. In the early years of the Southern Song Dynasty, a Gaodao named Fang Changxu lived in seclusion in Wudang Mountain, Hubei Province. He insisted on planting Chinese fir every day, making the Five Dragon Palace Chinese fir trees in Wudang Mountain all over the mountains. Taoists also pay special attention to protecting the environment of famous mountain palaces. Maoshan mountain in Jiangsu, Wudang Mountain in Hubei and Wuyi Mountain in Fujian still maintain a good ecological environment. Since modern times, the Taoist community has also paid great attention to the practice of ecological and environmental protection. The doctrine of protecting nature has been incorporated into the clear rules and commandments of Taoism, which has become a code of conduct that practitioners must abide by. The China Taoist Association issued the global ecological declaration of the China Taoist Association, actively participated in the world environmental protection conferences such as the "climate conscience summit" in France, built a platform, and actively carried out discussions and exchanges with the United Nations and international religious organizations on ecological and environmental protection. In recent years, the Chinese Taoist community has actively advocated the civilized worship of incense, the civilized worship of gods, and the construction of ecological Taoist temples. Taking the Taoist temples as the window and carrier, it carries forward the Taoist ecological culture, and promotes the change of social production and life style through the purification of people's hearts, so as to achieve the harmonious unity between man and nature. China adheres to the new development concept of innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing, practices the concept of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains", and advocates building a community of human and natural life, which is to establish a concept of sustainable development. The community of human and natural life transcends the boundaries of race, state and ideology, and provides a new perspective and rational and feasible scheme for thinking about human ecological environment protection. Taoism is willing to work with other religions to use its own influence and appeal to combine religious wisdom with the significance of ecological civilization, make new explanations, spread them to the world, guide people to enhance their awareness of environmental protection, and work together to build a green, livable and vibrant earth. This is the incumbent responsibility and historical mission of all religions at present. (outlook new era)
