On the evening of October 27, the founding ceremony of carbon neutral World University alliance jointly initiated by Southeast University and Birmingham University was held in Nanjing. Advocating the establishment of carbon neutralization World University Alliance is to give full play to the advantages of deep basic research and interdisciplinary integration of universities, Accelerate the construction of University carbon neutral talent training system and scientific and technological innovation system, deeply promote cooperation and exchanges among universities around the world, comprehensively carry out joint training and scientific research of high-level talents in carbon neutral science and technology, and take the initiative to strengthen international cooperation in addressing climate change. Zhang Guangjun introduced that as a Chinese University of the alliance Secretariat, Southeast University will take the president's triangle carbon neutralization Strategic Development Research Institute as the carrier, gather the resources of the whole university, make every effort to serve and build a bridge for the alliance construction, and strive to promote the high-quality development of the alliance. David Eastwood, President of the University of Birmingham, said at the ceremony that climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing modern society and has a negative impact on every region and ecosystem in the world. The establishment of carbon neutral World University Alliance will provide opportunities and capabilities for member universities and research institutions to cooperate across geographical boundaries. Birmingham University will work with the members of the alliance to provide sustainable energy solutions to achieve the development goals of the alliance and jointly address the challenges of global climate change through scientific research cooperation and innovation. Ma Xin, vice governor of Jiangsu Province, put forward three expectations for the future development of the alliance.
