The Transport Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced today (23rd) that the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will continue the quota plan (pilot plan) for the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge Greater Bay Area, in order to further utilize the bridge and promote personnel and vehicle traffic in the three regions. Starting from the end of this month, the Transport Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will send invitation letters to eligible quota holders and accept applications for eligible Hong Kong cross-border private cars from December 1st. It is understood that under this plan, eligible Hong Kong cross-border private cars must hold three license plates and also hold a regular quota to travel across the bridge between Hong Kong, Macau, and one of the Guangdong Hong Kong land ports. In addition to the quotas at the original ports, quota holders will also receive additional visas for the Hengqin Port connecting Guangdong and Macao, and for the Shenzhen Bay Port connecting Shenzhen and Hong Kong as needed, in order to travel across the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area via a bridge. According to the Transport Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, more than 400 private cars are currently benefiting from this plan.
