Therefore, ride hailing platforms have an obligation to ensure the authenticity and accuracy of billing. It is reported that Mr. Zhang, a consumer, encountered a situation where the fare was abnormally high after the trip ended while taking a taxi on the relevant platform, and the actual cost reached as much as 8 times the estimated price. This incident not only damages the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, but also exposes the problems in billing and management of ride hailing platforms. The Shanghai Municipal Consumer Protection Commission pointed out that ride hailing platforms should establish an active fare verification mechanism, match and verify data such as driving routes and duration through technical means, timely detect abnormal situations, correct errors first, and then make consumers pay. The committee believes that ride hailing platforms should improve their fare "anti cheating" mechanism and be willing to invest technical resources in protecting consumer rights. At the same time, it is recommended that ride hailing apps add a "route review" function to facilitate consumers' post event monitoring. In addition, ride hailing platforms should strengthen complaint handling. As providers of ride hailing services, platform customer service should truly assume the responsibility of being the "gatekeeper" of consumer rights, not just passing on messages through intermediaries, nor shirking responsibilities.
