How to understand China's road from the perspective of "civilization state"? ——An exclusive interview with Zhang Guangsheng, professor of Renmin University of China and director of the Institute of Chinese and Foreign Political Thought and Culture, author Xu Huangguan and Liu Yueqing, CPC led the people out of the path of Chinese path to modernization, created a new form of human civilization, and it is meaningful to explain the generation and development of China's road from the perspective of civilization. Why is contemporary China not a general "nation state" but a "civilization state"? What is the height and breadth of the Chinese national rejuvenation and Chinese path to modernization in the sense of civilization? Recently, we had an exclusive interview with Zhang Guangsheng, professor of the School of International Relations of Renmin University of China and director of the Institute of Chinese and Foreign Political Thought and Culture. The interview is summarized as follows: Reporter: What is the meaning of your proposal that China is not a "nation state" in the general sense, but a "civilization state"? Zhang Guangsheng: Civilization state is not only a modern translation and interpretation of the term "world state" in the traditional sense of China, but also a conceptual sketch of modern China's national national characteristics different from those in Europe. The typical concept of nation state, that is, the concept of nation state, was invented in modern Europe to get rid of the political and religious predicament of the Christian political system. Nation state takes sovereignty as the core connotation. Sovereignty overrides religious and social conflicts to build a country for the people within a certain territory. Such a country only provides the society with the "bottom line security" commitment of "freedom without prohibition". The core connotation of "civilization - state" is to build a more noble and virtuous country with deeper mutual relations on the basis of security. Compared with the nation states in Europe, China is not only a community of national destiny, but also a community of Chinese wisdom and civilization. This community is different from the Habsburg Empire and the Ottoman Empire. The latter two collapsed under the impact of the modern revolution and the wave of nation state construction. Zhang Guangsheng: Here I want to emphasize a general characteristic by using the concept of civilization state, that is, benevolence, righteousness, courtesy and other values are practiced in the framework of China world civilization. The characteristic of this framework is that "China", as the pivot organization for the cohesion of the ruling power, maintains an organic relationship with the "world" civilization. In other words, the traditional Chinese "world state" is characterized by "taking the country as the world". What does it mean to "take the country and the world"? The poem · Daya · King Wen has a sentence about "the change of Yin and Zhou". It says that "although Zhou was an old state, its life was renewed", which means that "Zhou" was promoted to a new central country under the leadership of the central country "Shang", which is the destiny of heaven and leads other countries in the world. The word "world" is not only a noun to express the living space under the world, but more importantly, it indicates the connotation of the creation and dissemination of "civilization" in the book "Yi Ben", which says, "Look at astronomy to observe changes in time; look at humanity to turn into the world".
